I recently purchased this amazing pitcher from West Elm's Gourd collection. It is a perfect addition to my white ceramics/porcelain pieces. I love to mix older, collectible vintage pieces with new modern ones. Its a streamlined look because they are all white and the various shapes compliment each other. Not only is this a great addition to my collection but is also on sale for about $10!

Christmas Already

I finished decorating the house last weekend, except for the tree since it will surely be dried out by Christmas. We always get a small tree (3' or so) so it won't be too much of a task to decorate.

The perfect finishing touch to decorating is filling my house with some Christmas tunes. So it was mandatory that I get 'A Very She & Him Christmas'...and on vinyl. I love Zooey's classic voice, so perfect for the classic Christmas songs ("I'll Be Home for Christmas", "Baby It's Cold Outside", etc.). The album cover art is great, red vinyl, and a little bonus Christmas card from Matt & Zooey. Cute! And I threw in some soul from Otis Redding (also mandatory for my vinyl collection). Opening these, it felt like Christmas already!

Yesterday, I received one of my "Black Friday" purchases. (Yes, I can't help but do the 'one for you, one for me' deal. Yikes!) It is the most darling little dress with vintage label "Nancy of California". Great details like yellow rid-rack, brass heart shaped faux buttons, and embroidered ribbon at the sleeves and near hem for a folk-y look.

3 pieces united at last

I'm quite proud of my recent purchases on etsy and addition to my tea sets collection. I have several shelves which I have various 'white ware' pieces, tea sets, and an occasional piece with a pop of color.

I was browsing etsy and found a cute sugar bowl and creamer set. I just love the design which is sort of a white swirl that wraps around each piece. I also discovered the matching pitcher on etsy from a different seller. I was just so delighted to make a set and this awesome design!
I do not know too much about it and it could be quite common. It has a great mid-century modern design but really not sure of year. (I did a quick search and got 60s-80s ?). There is an ever so slight variation in color in all of them; however, my camera made it appear as the sugar bowl is way off...not sure why. My intentions were to use the sugar bowl and creamer for everyday so just happy to have an extra piece in the set.

Unsold Ebay

I am rather sick of seeing my eBay autions being in so many Watch lists and ending up not without even one bid, even when the auctions start at 'giving it away' prices. Not to mention, having to pay the fees on all those unsold items.

I typically use eBay for my more modern (un-vintage) clothing and accessories as my vintage goes straight to Etsy.

However, due to my issues with eBay, I've decided to open up shop on BigCartel.
I never have any luck at Buffalo Exchange or the like and it is just so disappointing to see some truly great clothes hauled off to the Salvation Army. Most of these are things that do not fit, I hardly ever wore, and are just taking up much needed space in my ever expanding closet.

I do hope you'll take a peek.

Shangri La Hotel

This week I stayed at the Shangri La Hotel in Santa Monica, CA.

First of all the hotel is set immediately across the street from the beach and ocean. Not only a prime location near the beach, but also walking distance to plenty of shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. A gorgeous deco gem which sits on the Pacific Ocean!

I arrived late and had a bit of difficulty determining where the parking lot was, as it is an easily missed driveway. I was a bit disappointed that the parking was valet only and $33 for overnight. But I guess that is typical for city parking. I asked about alternative parking and there is a large structure within walking distance which is about $18 overnight, and significantly less for shorter term parking. However, I would not suggest parking there if you have a lot of large suitcases and bags as it is on the next block.

The staff was friendly and check-in was quick and easy. The registration desk had comfy loveseats in front so you could sit while you check-in rather the the traditional stand-up counter.

The architecture of the building is amazing art deco style. I felt I was constantly looking around to take it all in. There are 2 elevators; one is a newer elevator and the other older, original one, which of course is a bit slower but adds to the vintage charm.

The halls are open to the outside and look out to a courtyard patio and pool area. Unfortunately, it was raining so I did not get a great look of the pool area but I imagine it would be a lovely place for a quick dip and to sun bathe. I am not keen on the open hallways as it has that 'motel' feel which for me is more of a safety concern. There were stairs to each floor and of course the elevator, which did not require a room key to access and really no security in the lobby/ front door. This is not always common in hotels, but typically in cities you expect this to some degree.

The room was amazing! Gorgeous crisp bedding and a very comfy bed. Curvy, round edged drawers with carved streamlined designs to maintain the deco style. The bathroom was enclosed in panes of glass and mirrors, which was a little dizzying but very elegant. There were paned windows that opened the tub to the bedroom area...quite sensual! The tub was deep and inviting, screaming for a bath to be drawn immediately. However, I was already late checking in and really had no time. My room was not facing the water but I had a peak out the window and a great view of the ocean just down the street.

The bell staff was friendly but a bit pushy about showing the 'features of the room'. This really was no necessary as there was nothing unexpected about the room besides the panel of dimmers to control all the lighting in the room. I was also eager just to get to my room, set my stuff down, and grab some food.

The restaurant on the first floor has had some excellent reviews but closes at 10pm so I missed that experience. I was lucky enough to have a cocktail at the roof top bar, although missed the outdoor rooftop view because of the rain. The inside bar area is a pink-lit room with cozy areas and low-seating to lounge. High shelves curve around the corners of the room and are lined with books. The furniture is upholstered in a lizard-look fabric with tweed patches.

I enjoyed a Pinky Punk martini which was delicious and sweet. Another interesting signature drink (for Scotch drinkers) is the Smokey Martini with Scotch which gives it a smokey flavor.

Check-out was also quick and easy. This was a quick trip for me and I wish I could have enjoyed more of the amenities. Overall, this is an excellent hotel to stay, probably more so for leisure than for business.

Belamar Hotel

I love independent and boutique hotels, or at least small chain ones. It makes travel much more enjoyable. I have stayed at many but will try to keep up-to-date on my most recent and do some 'flashbacks' of ones I have stayed at so you get a review of those, too.

This week I was at the Belamar Hotel (a Larkspur Hotel) which is in Manhattan Beach (Los Angeles area), but is about 5 miles from LAX. So if you come to LAX and want to be near the airport, near the beach, and not by one of the 'airport' hotels (i.e. sound of jets flying over you all night), I recommend staying here.

It is a 4 Star hotel with very reasonable rates. They have just launched a rewards program called "Stash Rewards" with other independent hotels, so join that if you are a frequent traveler. The only drawback of this program is that you have to book through their website; therefore, if you are a business traveler and have a company travel site/agency you may not get the rewards.

My stay was only one night and I really like the location of this place because if has a residential look and feel, so less busily than the LAX hotels. Yet, you are so very close to the airport, too. They have complimentary valet parking which is always nice and friendly front desk and valet staff to greet you.

I had a queen room on the top (3rd floor) which was spacious. It has a nice closet area, mini fridge (not stocked), drawers, desk, and a spacious balcony. My room was overlooking the inner courtyard area. Some of the rooms were very close so you definitely want to draw the curtains at night (but who doesn't). There is lots of seating and a fountain in the courtyard and looks like a perfect place for a morning coffee or mid-day snack. The room is complete with robes and L'Occitane bath products. The only flaw is that my room did not have a flat screen tv, but hardly a drawback in my opinion. I also had a DVD player in my room. Rooms also equipped with free wired/ or wireless internet access.

I ventured to the "Second Story" which is an open restaurant and bar. It is accommodating for both large or small parties or even parties of one. A few tv screens to catch the news or sports event, and cool mod lighting. There is a M-F happy hour from 4-7pm. The wine/beer is about $4-5 and appetizers are typically less than $10. There is a regular dinner menu available, as well, and prices are $20-$30 for an entree (also available for room service).

The staff at Second Story were quick and friendly. I ordered the "First Class Chicken Wings" which were excellent; very crispy and very hot/spicy. The dressing was a gorgonzola cream which was heavenly and way better than ranch or bleu cheese. It only came with one small half-stalk of celery and the sauce was very hot, this would be the only drawback. It was a perfect size for 1 person.

I ordered the house chardonnay and had no complaints ,especially given it was only $4 for a generous glass.

I also ordered the "French Ginger Snap" martini as I am a big fan of ginger-flavored drinks. It was a bit disappointing as it mostly tasted of lemon and had bits of lemon in it, while the ingredients list Domaine De Canton, Absolut Citron, Fresh Lemon Juice, Triple Sec, Edible Flowers. Perhaps, they should change the name to something more lemony sounding. Specialty cocktails run $12 regular price.

This is Second Story. Quiet but still a small crowd.

Nautical Classics

Ahoy! So it appears that the nautical style is back, or perhaps just never went out to sea. It is a timeless, classic look that has reappeared throughout many decades. But I'm going to dock this vessel in a present day 60s-influenced harbor of classic nautical staples.

The mini-skirt of course is timeless and true. And of course, 60s through and through.

Spring 2011 Tribal Prints

I was very inspired by UrbanOutfitters Spring 2011 catalog. It has a late 60s-70s feeling, but with some reference back to the 40s, such as the harem style pants in chiffon and silk. I always fall in love with different prints and usually look for more abstract ones, but the lines can be blurred with some ethnic prints, new or vintage.

and the headscarf is very 70s, but knotted at the top of the head or worn in a turban style is a 1940s trend. I really like the tribal ethnic look of these outfits.

These styles inspired me to make some purchases for my own spring wardrobe, although from a variety of sources.

These gorgeous silk tribal print top from Forever 21. Its sheer so it will need a camisole underneath, but just as gorgeous in person.

Also, these woven pants in olive from Forever 21. They are sort of silky, light weight and have a side zip. There are a few other harem type pants on the site, but I like these the best because there is no elastic at the ankles (great for shorter girls who might have to cuff).

Also from Forever 21, these faux suede shoes with stacked heels. I need some neutral color shoes (other than black) that also have a moderate, comfortable heel. I purchased the taupe which was darker in person and more of a mushroom color. But for $20 you can't go wrong. I may wear these with this look, but am also on the hunt for the perfect sandals.

And to perfect the look, I found this great Vera scarf on Etsy by sixcatsfunVINTAGE. All I need is a great pair of sunglasses!

50s Friday

Well, I was going to post an entry every day this week and of course, time got away from me. So here it is Friday already. I decided to pick and choose 50s (or inspired) pieces in black and white.

I love these heels. I am not a huge fan of the vinyl slingbacks or springolaters only because the vinyl is often yellowed. But these don't look too bad and I love the braiding detail which masks any aging of the vinyl anyway. These are only $30 from GoodEye (size 8). The insoles need a repair/ replacement, but can be done easily and shouldn't cost too much.

Another beautiful dress from DearGoldenVintage. This is a Jerry Gilden dress in a unique medallion filigree-esque print with rhinestone detail. Size Small (w=26").

1950s style lovely black Italian leather strappy heels by Garolini (1970-1984) in size 6. These are from Mikkiriff and in pristine condition for $50.

A black and white stripe 1950s style number, perfect for summer and dancing. It is size small (w=28") from pinehaven2 ($35).

Okay so this first one I will contradict myself...this is actually a newly handcrafted piece (of vintage materials) by Brad Elfrink. The vintage bakelite has been carved with creatures from Louisiana and the Gulf. It would be wonderful to auction and use the proceeds for helping the ecosystem affected in the Gulf oil spill clean-up.

Here is a recent outfit.
I am wearing a great black wool mini shift dress and bolero jacket. Its hard to see in the photo but the bolero has a cute flat bow closure at the collar.
The purse is also vintage from eBay. The leather handle was broken but I had an etsy seller, lenwood, make a new strap for me through an alchemy request so it is good as new.
Pattern tights are from ModCloth purchased a few months ago.
Nude colored heels are from Target.
Headband is just a black chiffon scarf I have had for years and earrings are from Forever 21.

Here are a few items I found on my own that are just too cool to pass up...

This great duvet (also comes in a comforter set) in a dot print by DwellStudio. Full size set is $60.

Who wouldn't want one of these mod bubble umbrellas? (about $14) Be sure to search the Target site as they have other colors and styles.

I love this very old fashioned style hair dryer ($30). Yes, they still use similar designs in the salons, but to have one at home for setting your hair is much better. You can change your nail polish while your hair dries! I have one of the original ones from the 1960s but it weighs about 25 lbs. This is convenient as it fold up for easy storage and only weighs about 7lbs.

This dress has such a cool print and it is perfect for the summer. I was not thrilled with the back being longer than the front, but some home reconstructing can easily fix that. Plus, at $14 you really can't go wrong.

Everything goes so fast on etsy nowadays...it's really hard to keep up. This is great for seller's since buyers will not sit on items they want but will feel the pressure to buy. For buyers it makes you want to grab items up, before it's too late and makes it that much harder to find the highly sought after items.

I am a fan of plastic costume jewelry. Although bakelite is the 'diamond' of this type of jewelry, I am not picky and admire any chunky, unique, colorful plastic accessories. Here are a neat pair of mod style posts sold by thriftage.

I think the Spring weather has really put me in the mood to clean, as well as, shop. Taking a look in my closet and weeding things out always makes me want to buy new to replace the old (I swear a woman on Hoarders said the exact same thing...scary). While I might have an obsession, its not a compulsion yet...or maybe it's the other way around.

Anyway, let's get to the good stuff...

I found this top on sale at Anthropologie (sale prices are about all I want to pay for their items and all I can afford)...

If I had just seen it on the website I probably would not have bought it, but in the store the color is muted and not so loud. The embroidered detail is also pleasing in a retro way.

I do have an obsession with the perfect white blouse. I love finding just the right one, but have a terrible tendency to ruin them...either stain, washing/drying damage, iron, rip...you name it. Murphy's Law, right? Let's hope that nothing goes awry with these babies...both from Urban Outfitters (Knock on wood).

The first Lyell blouse I would call the 'Holy Grail' of white blouses...Peter pan collar, puff sleeves, tucks...hallelujah!

And the next is light & fun, perfect for spring...and on sale for $20 (in store)

Lastly, some cute beige t-strap flats. I bought these for the sole (pun not intended) reason that I bought a new tunic/dress that is beige & blue. All of my flats are either black, pink, or white. Definitely a 'need' in my book. :)

Just a quickie update on some cute items recently grabbed up on etsy...

I loved this little red wiggle dress by faithfullvintage. It has adorable red bows on the sleeves. So sad to see this one gone...

This one is so very 1960s and the Peter pan collar and tiny pockets have a playful Madeline appeal. This one was from DearGoldenVintage.

And a gorgeous chocolate brown, rippley, pleated dress from bloomingleopold. I would feel like a kid in a candy store all the time in this one.

Here are some more of my favorite links and places to shop or items I have my eye on.

I absolutley love the scent of Booth Bath & Body products (not to be confused with Boots brand). You can sometimes find this at drugstores or Target, but it has been scare lately and its exciting to know they now sell online! Hooray!

My person favorite is the Tahitian Monoi Body Souffle ($6.99). The souffles are light and heavily moisturize but without being oily or greasy. Perfect to slather on with shorts or a dress. (Unfortunately, I have had instances wear I put on a heavy body lotion that unbeknownst to me was greasy and ending up staining my clothes.)

Here is a great article & video from Queens of Vintage on how to do hair like Brigitte Bardot. She uses a "bump-it' in the video but I prefer to just backcomb and hairspray. I have not tried the bump-it but I imagine it would show in my hair since I have very fine hair. Sometimes I can even get the same volume with hairspray alone.

And the essential is the perfect black headband or scarf. Here is one by etsy seller mixbaby.

Art & Charity

This weekend Will and I went to a charity art show that was held in our apartment complex. The art show featured local artists from painters to sculptors to jewelry makers who created pieces during the show. Everyone mingled, watched the artists, and enjoyed hor d'vers and cocktails. A dj played for dancing and inspiration for the artists too.

I wore a vintage cream colored dress that I purchased on eBay. The length had been altered by the seller, which made it more contemporary but still with 60s flavor. I wore this with white knee socks (target), t-strap mary janes (nordstrom's), and white bead drop earrings (forever 21).

So many times I have added unique, one-of-a-kind items to my 'watch' list or 'favorites', only to see some other lucky gal (or guy) has grabbed it up. I'm sure we've all been there...that "grrr I could kick myself" feeling. Nonetheless, I will pay tribute to them here...lesson learned: act quickly or else face it that it'll be 'Gone, But Not Forgotten'.

What a cute, 1960s baby doll dress with puff sleeves by seller eccentricitees on eBay. I also reminds me of a 1940s tap dancer, think the Rockettes. This sold for just a bit over $32.

Here is a 1960s-70s sheer mini dress by eBay seller americanarchive. Its so elegant, but flirty too. It has a gorgeous back with buttons up the back of collar. This one was $61.

A little wintery, but still super cute. Would have loved to have this one for Valentine's day. I lacey top with velvet skirt mini dress by meat-market. This was $52.

A darling little shift dress in a great novelty print with dancers by etsy seller RaleighVintage. I've added a close-up of this cool print. I like novelty prints but I'm very picky about them as they are a bit risky. Wearing something too bold or too cute can come across as clownish or kiddie. A good novelty print must be attractive and subtle, like this one!

St. Pattys & Ikea

No better time to wear green than on St. Pattys! I wore this outfit out on St. Patrick's evening. The original dress/top must have had matching pants at one time, but I paired it with black cropped pants. The pants are from h&M. The dress/top is thrifted and my (in)famous black purse was purchased on eBay. I wore black peeptoe heels from Target.

And my dog, Doodle, was in the spirit (briefly). I tied a chiffon scarf on him and he was good for about 5 minutes before he started to try to bite it off.

I recently went to IKEA and fell in love with all the cool paper napkins they had. They are almost barkcloth-like prints. Here are a few from their site:

IKEA has some neat brightly colored striped rugs. I purchased one, but am thinking of getting another. It really brightened up my apartment! This photo is from apartmenttherapy.com (I had trouble finding the rug on the IKEA site).

Other than that IKEA was a bit empty since they are getting new merchandise in. I needed a few things but they had cleared out most of it. :( Hopefully, next time.

I treated myself to a homemade pedicure.

I bought Rimmel's Lasting Finish Pro in Hot Cocoa, which is a unique color for me cause I tend to stick to reds and pinks. But I like this pinky-beige color. The brush Rimmel uses is wider than most, as you can see below. If anything, you at least get them done faster.
And more goodies for your tootsies...these adorable Ben Sherman mary jane stacked heels. I'd buy them if I could only find them in my size.

Well, this is not a fashion related post, but I just had to share some photos of the cutest little creatures. I am obsessed with these little guys...Arctic foxes. They are endangered since they only live to about 4 years old and compete with the red fox for territory land. They also were hunted in the early 20th century due to the high price of their fur. They can be brown or blue in spring and turn white in winter.

They are about 33 inches in length and about 6 or 7 lbs in weight.

Tis the Season...

Tis the season to do random clean-up projects...well, for me anyhow. I noticed my magazine stack was getting out of hand so I decided to clean it out. I typically throw out anything more than 6 months old, unless it has some fashion editorial or news article with which I would like to save and keep in tact. Others, I will tear and clip out things I want to save and I place these in a journal-style scrap book.

Anyhow, during this process I came to the conclusion that those who write for magazines, don't have the same salary as the rest of us (well there are other biases to consider but this conclusion will do). So many magazines that I flipped through had dozens upon dozens of articles of clothing that were at least over $300...and these magazines are aimed at the everyday woman. I hope I don't come across as cheap, but a $150 purchase to me is even an investment that takes some consideration. I do believe in quality, and yes, quality comes at a cost. But there are many items you can buy for $50 to $200 that I would consider fairly priced...not "bargain items' as so presented in many fashion magazines. Under $20 is a bargain in my book!

And on to more organizing....my favorite links! What a pain! I think this is a great place to organize and share my links. I really prefer websites in which I like products and the content and not just spam people links of people I work with or acquaintances. So know that the websites & links I share are unbiased...I truly like them & wear (or would like to wear) their products or garments. However, I am always open to suggestions...so please share any you might have with me!

Summer is almost over and I am loving the new fashions for fall.
But i am not quite ready to hang up the swimsuit and lug out the boots and coats. So here are some final summer thoughts in a farewell to the warm days...

I have a thing for nautical or sailor-themed clothing and this is just too cute. I'd love to wear it out boating or to wade in waves... It is from one of my all time favorite on-line stores ModCloth.com (I've been shopping this site since it was 'vintage').

And one more from ModCloth.com, an adorable jumper/ pinafore. This is probably more of a 70s look, but with a puff sleeved blouse could go for a 1940s look, too.

Also, while you are there do check-out the lovely tribute to the 1960s and MadMen, called "A Mod Affair":

Here is a sweet little dress...it really needs some bakelite to go with its candy-like appearance. Another 70s gone 40s and for $35 --can't argue too much.

Recent purchases...

I am sad to say that my hard drive crashed and I lost a lot of my lovely photos, pics, etc. I had about half of my files backed up. Anyhow, they want me to give them $500 to recover all the files so it looks like I will have to forego that. So my reminder to everyone...back up your files to something reliable...a disk or flash drive...hard drives (internal or external) are no good.

On a better note, here are some recent purchases...

I can't recommend this dress enough. I bought it in blue (~$20 USD) and am seriously thinking I need the red one, too (~$28USD). The only thing I could see being a problem is you cannot wear a bra with it, but for once not having a big chest has been a benefit and I just forego the bra. You could always use those bras that stick at the sides or pastey-petals though.

I purchased these shoes on eBay and really love them, just have yet to wear them. I am not sure what to wear them with:

They were about $25, not including shipping and you can get them from eBay seller sit-shoe-ation.

And I really wanted a new leopard garter (I have a vintage one but hate to wear it too much). So I bought a perfect one from WhatKatieDid. (see photo, just the garter)

I really admire the Victor Costa dresses. They are definitely from the 80s but have a certain vintage timelessness to them. I've been eyeing some on eBay. Here is a great example...

I swear my watch list on eBay is always maxed out. Don't they know a vintage-loving girl does not watch a mere 200 items. Although watching items definitely prevents me from actually buying them or my poor wallet would be hurting. I like to think of it as virtual shopping. So on with my virtual shopping spree...

One of my top favorite designers is Nanette Lepore. Her clothing pairs so well with vintage.

Here is a lovely silk top with japaense inspired embroirdered birds and flowers. This would be fabulous with a sweet 50s full skirt.

And a more formal silk and lace top...would be lovely with a black velvet circle skirt:

This is a gorgeous plaid dress...late 30s, early 40s style. Not everyone likes the longer styles ( and being on the shorter side probably not the most flattering on me) but I still admire them.

Vanity Fair has some fabulous photographers. Their monthly section of Vanities Girls, rising stars syled & posed in a pin-up theme, is one of my favorites. It just goes to show that anyone really can do pin-up (which I think is a GOOD thing). Every woman wants to feel glamorous and, if done correctly, can pull off such a look. I believe its all in the styling (whether self or hired) and a talented photographer. Here are some examples:

I went to Target (& spent way too much money...I love that place!). I found these cute converse sneakers that are a wedge type. These look great with wide leg pants or shorts. I imagine they are comfortable to dance in, too...although I haven't tried yet. They have them in navy or brown and they are under $18. You can also order them online (see link above).

Here are some great items I have found while browsing.

First, I am a huge fan of Cole Haan shoes & bags. They have been around since 1928 and everything is very well made and comfortable. I used to like Coach handbags but I am very disappointed with the direction they have taken in recent years. It does not have the same classic style they once had (aside from the classics collection). I wish they would put out some new, classy styles.

Another find (one that I unfortunately miss out on) was this 1940s dress. It is difficult to tell from the photo but it is silk with a Paris street & cafe scene. There was a reserve on it and I never got to bid :(

I have been absent, which unfortunately is so like me. I get so caught up in projects and work and things here and there that something always ends up neglected. I'd like to update more often though. It's on my "To Do" list!

One of the things which always keeps me busy is the Pin-up contest on my website. I just love sponsoring the contests because long ago when there were few pin-ups on the web, the contests were always SO exciting. I was in a fe but even those that I didn't participate in kept my interest because I was so anxious to see who won. It is just a fun thing that I enjoy doing and hope it entertains others, too.

I do take it very seriously though and keep votes tabulated throughout the month. It is set up to count each vote once, but I always go back and review the votes and make sure everything is fair and square.

So please head over and cast your vote...it's all in fun!

I have seriously neglected my website and have not listed anything new in forever. This was mostly because eBay was hot! The place to buy and sell. Not so much these days, at least for vintage clothing.

Most of my things I have listed on etsy and have done well so far. Plus, everyone on there has been very fair, polite, and easy to work with. eBay was notorious for some of the rude buyers...and I guess, sellers too. Please take a peek...

I have such a love-hate relationship with vintage shoes. They are so gorgeous, usually very well made, wonderful style, perfect heel height,...the list goes on and on. Yet, there are many problems like leather that has not been well taken care of and begins to peel and crack, heel caps are worn or missing (and cannot always be replaced due to modern size of heels), worn straps on buckled heels, soles need to be replaced, etc. I wish I was a little shoe repair lady...I'd fix them all up & make them new again.

I bought the cutest swim suit with matching tea timer. It is a DeWeese.

I found it on Etsy.com definitely the best place on the web for vintage now. The prices are fair and the selection is good. Hopefully it will recruit more people from eBay since 'vintage' there has been a bit corrupted.

However, I did find a very cute pair of Candies slides. I love Candies....they have such a classic style.

Yet, another pair. I got these on eBay for under $10! They are Cole Haan, one of my all time favorite shoe makers. These have a neat 60s look, but still casual. I travel a lot so the kitten heel is also ideal.

Vintage inspired & new finds

I am obsessed with the cute brand at Forever 21 called Twelve by Twelve. The actual clothing hang tag is adorable with a smaller version of a vintage pattern held to the garment by a tiny yellow ribbon that looks like measuring tape.

I am not a snob when it comes to labels. I am more about style and will wear new or vintage if it fits and has the style I am looking for. Therefore, any brand will do from Target to Dior.

First, I bought this great jacket. It has nice details and the cut is unique with an inverted 'V' shape in both the front and back. It will be perfect for work (w/ camisole) or just to wear out & about.

I also purchased this lightweight denim jumpsuit. It has a real 'Rosie the Riveter' kinda look to it,

but even more feminine with the halter tope. Unfortunately, the pants are way TOO long. I am 5'3" and got an extra small and would have had to take up about 6". I will have to return these. Very cute for the tall ladies though!!

Next, I bought this gorgeous jumpsuit (-minus the hat) with nice art deco style buckle. The belt is not necessary and is studded so I will remove that. It is nice & soft and extremely comfortable, too. I cannot wait to wear this one with my hair straight in a bob with bangs. So chic, so deco!

I am a HUGE fan of playsuits/ sunsuits/ rompers. And here is cute one...they also have it in a very retro green. Great quality for the price, too.

And lastly, I got a dress (regular Forever 21 brand). It is strapless with a lightly padded bust...no strapless bra needed here. I removed the belt cause it was not my style. The pockets in it are adorable. This will be the perfect thing to wear to a 60s style event!

I bought these cuties on eBay. Made by Lulu Guinness. I can't wait to wear these with a pair of high-waisted sailor pants or a fun playsuit. They have a real 1940s/1970s look!

I'm on a real shoe shopping spree. I also purchased these white mary janes with patent detail from gojane.com. I may wear these with more of my early 1960s style dresses since they have a mod flare. The best part is they are only $13.00!
